We maintain a structured schedule to ensure all labs and breeding procedures are conducted effectively during regular business operations.
* Closed daily for lunch from 1:00 PM – 1:30 PM.
Are you open on weekends?
Our office is generally closed on Saturdays and Sundays. However, if a breeding is strictly needed on a Saturday due to specific timing, we are on call.
We process an enormous volume of incoming packages, ranging from standard documents to highly sensitive genetic material. It is critical that these are routed correctly.

Our entire staff takes this responsibility very seriously and the level of passion they have in their work genuinely shows. The technical staff is completely dedicated to ensuring your breedings are done according to your bitch’s schedule, not our convenience.
Our techs spend countless hours collectively educating clients to make sure the best possible procedures are performed. Our overall pregnancy success rate with Transcervical Insemination done in our office is 88% (and up to 98% when strictly following our timing protocols).
Depending on your location and circumstances, there are three primary methods of securing genetic material for a breeding.
We’re proud to share our TCI success data from 2025, representing over 250 transcervical inseminations performed throughout the year here at Sirius. Very few publish their actual annual outcomes!
The technology that created this specific canine semen freezing technique has been heavily developed and around for over 36 years.
We are currently utilizing semen that has been reliably stored for that entire span of time and are successfully producing incredibly healthy litters of puppies! We operate under the assumption the semen will remain viable for an indefinite period of time, assuming it remains constantly suspended at precision temperatures in liquid nitrogen.
At Sirius Canine Fertility, the storage tanks we use are completely self-contained and rely purely on the deep thermal properties of liquid nitrogen physics. Absolutely zero electricity is required to keep the units frozen, so California power failures are genuinely never a problem.
The generally accepted "best" age is between 2 to 5 years of age, although our experts feel the younger the better.
Semen collected from a younger dog is exponentially stronger, has higher motility, and survives the harsh freezing process far better than older material.
Generally speaking, we heavily recommend Transcervical Insemination (TCI).
We vastly prefer TCI to surgical procedures because it involves zero surgery, absolutely no physical recovery time, and imposes significantly less stress on the bitch's body and mind.
If you want the best possible chance of massive success, then yes, progesterone testing is necessary.
Behaviors like “flagging” and vaginal cytology indicating cornification are purely estrogen induced traits. However, ovulation is a progesterone induced trait. If you are utilizing frozen semen, progesterone testing is completely mandatory to ensure the semen is implanted at the exact biological timeframe.
What is the optimum progesterone level?
The actual breeding window is NOT determined by hitting a specific number, but rather by the exact date of ovulation. When planning a TCI:
This entirely depends on the grade and type of in-house testing equipment your local veterinarian utilizes.
Progesterone levels in the US are natively recorded in nanograms (ng), whereas testing performed in Canada and internationally is heavily recorded in nanomoles (nmol). To safely convert: the nanogram value is multiplied by 3.14 to align with the Canadian system.
Absolutely not! We have an array of medical treatment options that we can easily share with your primary veterinarian to safely treat prostatitis.
Generally, medical routes such as Ovaban or Proscar are utilized for precise treatment, and we have historically observed outstanding results retaining breeding viability.
Yes, we do! We now offer a comprehensive, modern Stud Directory.
Top tier breeders from around the world can optionally list their stud dogs inside our directory, allowing clients looking to breed an easy avenue to find elite genetic pedigrees and highly tailored biological matches for their specific program parameters.
